The Old Fan's Commentary On
Target Earth

You've never heard of Target Earth? It's not surprising.Target Earth was a 1954 science fiction B-movie. However, unlike most B-movies, it has a medium-sized budget (for a B-movie). It's well-written, well-directed, and well-produced.

It's the precise opposite of The Old Fan's Commentary On Plan 9 From Outer Space.

Target Earth is based on the novel Deadly City by Paul W. Fairman. Based on trailers, it looks like a standard B-movie with giant robots and death rays. I approached it assuming that it was a goofy, hopefully so-bad-it's-good film.

Nothing could be further from the truth. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this is one of the better B-movies. It's not about robots and death rays, though they do appear. The film is really a character study about how different people react in extraordinary circumstances.
